Hair Science? 

Why would we decide to have a section called hair science? 

Well when researching the content for we discovered so much information about hair, its structure, its properties, its lifecycle, growth rate and so much more really interesting and indepth information that we felt that no website that called itself Hairstyles-and-hair could be without it!

  • The average number of hairs 140,000 for blondes, 100,000 for brunettes and 90,000 for red heads.
  • Hair grows about half an inch per month, faster in the summer.
  • A healthy scalp loses 50 to 100 hairs per day.
  • The life cycle of each strand is 2 to 7 years.
  • Hair falls out to make way for new hair and the cycle starts
  • The cuticles lie smooth and reflect light, which gives hair its shine.
